How far we’ll go
How we see
How we feel
What we believe
What were willing to give up
What we wont’ let go
Where we’ve been
Who we know
What we want to be
What we have seen
What we doubt
What we have faith in
What we need
What we refuse
What we want
What we accept as truth
What makes us unique
What we lie
What makes us the same
What we deny
Who we love
Who we hate
“All that [we] bend
All that [we] break” (U2)
What feeds us, angers us, drives us, scares us, softens us…
It’s a lifelong puzzle, an eternal ever-unfolding mystery. The more of our identity, our true selves, we expose and claim, the more we can share ourselves with another person. And the more we can let them share themselves, their true selves, with us. How can you believe in another when you even doubt yourself?
If the image we’ve come to project is nothing more than that, an image, have we lost the real us? Or is it twisting and turning underneath the layers of doubt and fear waiting to be laid bare, waiting to be freed, afraid and waiting to be loved?
